Hi, my name is Malcolm Kushner. But I'm better known as "America's
Favorite Humor Consultant." I'm an internationally acclaimed expert on
humor and communication. (Hey, I am!)
Since 1982, I've trained thousands of managers, executives and
professionals how to gain a competitive edge with humor. My clients have
included IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, AT&T, SONY, Aetna, CIGNA
Healthcare of California, Baxter International, and even the IRS.
(Really.)
I've written several books. They include The Light Touch: How to Use
Humor for Business Success, Public Speaking For Dummies, and Vintage
Humor For Wine Lovers. I've also published an audio series of
presidential humor. (You can see pictures of all this stuff in the
museum gift shop.)
Education? I've got a BA in Communications from the University of
Buffalo and an M.A. in Communications from the University of Southern
California. My J.D. is from the University of California, Hastings
College of the Law. (One of the 20 law schools that says it's in the top
10).
After law school I practiced law for a couple of years, first as a
staff attorney for the California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board
and then with with a big San Francisco firm. Then I became a humor
consultant. (Whether or not the world needs a humor consultant, I'm sure
you'll agree it can use one less lawyer.)
As a humor consulant, I created the widely quoted "Cost of Laughing
Index" -- a price index of the 16 leading humor indicators in America.
It measures stuff like the wholesale price of rubber chickens. And it's
in the news every year around April Fool's Day. It's been featured on
Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, and the front page of The Wall
Street Journal.
I'm also a co-creator of the humor exhibit at The Ronald Reagan
Presidential Library and Museum. If you're ever in Simi Valley,
California you should check it out.
Besides all that, I give a lot of speeches at corporate and
association meetings. And run this museum. If you want any more
information or just want to share jokes and philosophical musings,
contact me at the museum. The address, phone number and e-mail are on
ever page of this web site.
